Had an early appointment with the pediatrician. Just Shane and I, first time to the doctors without Dyson. Shane was quite for about 5 minutes in the car then was giggling, babbling and playing with his toys. I thought that was great, he is enjoying the ride. We got to the parking lot, I was debating whether to carry Shane in with or without the carrier. I decided to keep him in the carrier because it was just me. Not again, it was like carrying a bag of cement. He is heavy!! We were called in to the exam room. The nusre said he id big for 6 months. I got Shane unbuckled and lifted him out to remove his clothes down to his diaper and, well, WHOA-MAMMA, what a smell. he was so happy in the car because he made a present. The nurse did a quick weighing, measuring and ran out so I could change him. He is 29 inches long (got to order a new car seat, he is a half an inch away from the limit of the current seat) Head circumfrance is 18.25 inches. His weight is 19 pounds, always different at drs then at home. Now on to the Doctor's examination....
Dr said he looks good. Shane will be at least 6'3" when grown. He wrote a perscription for vitamins, I explained what happened to my older brother when he went on then as a baby, not sleeping crying etc., he said that the vitamins wouldn't cause the reaction but the filler used to make the vitamins might and there different now than 30+ years ago . He said if something doesn't seem right when he takes them then stop. He recommended Shane start stage 2 dinners at 7 months and penne pasta baby food at 8 months. I asked about testing for celiac and he said right now he would test negative for celiac because he has not had any wheat, oat or barley gluten so if he is positive there would be no anti-bodies in his system. The genetic test would require more blood than anti=body test and at this stage would be very uncomfortable for Shane. He recommends getting some barley cereal and have Shane try it. Since I know the symptoms I would catch it well before any damage, if he has diarria, cramps, fussy or crying, uncomfortable and any personality changes. I should stop the barley and see if the symptoms go away and that would likely mean he has celiac. The doctor asked me if I had dental problems as a child and I did. He said if a child comes in with lots of dental probs he tests them for celiac and 99% have it. Shane then had two injections, first one he didn't feel, second one he cried for 10 seconds then all was well. What a day so far.....
I did baby laundry and hung it on the line. Took a nice walk with Shane and Rikku. Cleaned Shane's jumper, walker and toys (they get baby drool covered fast) Cleaned the vacuum and then vacuumed. Watched Shane do 90 mph laps in the kitchen. I also did some "don't bark at other dogs and listen to Kristen while in the yard" training with Rikku. Shane had a great day and so did I.
